Marketmommies Favorite Things - May 6, 2010

Happy Thursday!  I don't know why I get so excited about the weekends anymore.  When I worked outside the home, weekends met a couple of days away from work.  Now, my work follows me everywhere I go - in the form of 2 adorable boys and one precious baby girl :)  No time off, no vacation... but so well worth it!

Anyways - off to this week's Marketmommies.com Favorite Things!

In honor of Mother's Day, this list is all about making a mom's life easier!  Most of the items on this week's list were invented by moms.  Go figure!  It makes total sense that a mom would see a need for a product and invent it.  Mothers are truely the mothers of invention :)

Easy Lunchboxes - The Lunch Box Solution
http://www.easylunchboxes.com

I have to pack 3 lunches a week.  2 for my older son, and one for my 3 year son.  I can't imagine what it is like for moms packing multiple lunches for multiple kids each day.  Its just nuts how complicated it can get.  Trying to find containers for everything (don't want to use ziploc bags as they aren't environmentally friendly) can take time in the morning that you don't have.

Kelly, a mom of 3, invented The Lunch Box Solution out of necessity.  She too was spending tons of time she didn't have trying to find tops that match bottoms for her children's lunch.  Her solution is the EasyLunchbox system: a three-compartment, easy-to-clean container with one lid, that fits perfectly into one roomy carrying case. By eliminating the unnecessary multiple parts and accessories offered by other companies, the EasyLunchbox system is 1/3 the price of similar products, so it's very affordable

And that definately makes a mom's life easier!

OnTray

Another mom inventor (and fellow Central Ohioan) Laura Hamrick invented OnTray to make her own life as a mom easier.  Every mom can relate to the horrors of bringing their children to the grocery store.  Personally, its on my least favorite things to do with my kids list.  A list that includes potty training.

After one particulary tyring trip to the grocery store, Laura came up with an idea for a tray that attaches to the shopping cart handle.  Its perfect for snacks for your child who is sitting in the front basket.  I also use my OnTray for coupons.  I have struggled for years trying to find a way to manage my shopping list and coupons... especially coupons that I have the items for vs ones I'm still looking for....  I use 2 OnTrays for my coupons (when my kids aren't with me.  I don't mess around with coupons when the kids are with me.  I'm on survival mode, not saving money mode!)

By inventing something to make her own life easier, Laura has helped moms everywhere balance their kids and their coupons!

Hold It Baby! - On the Go Toy Organizer
http://www.holditbaby.com

My 15 month old daughter has discovered her new favorite game.  Its not one that she invented - but rather one every baby goes though... throwing things on the ground and crying until someone comes and picks it up for her.  And by crying, I mean hyperventalating.

If you are tired of playing this game that you will never win, check out Hold It Baby!.  Using a system of lanyards, clips, loops and snaps, it allows you to tether whatever you child is playing with to a stroller, highchair or carseat so you never have to play the pick it up game again.

The company puts safety first, and reminds you that a child should not use the system when they aren't supervised.  So if your child is throwing things out of their crib - you should invest in a crib tent.

Now - if someone could figure out a way to tehter my children's socks and shoes to their feet we would be all set!

Memories, WOW!

When my oldest son was born - I jumped head first into the world of scrapbooking.  I made the most ornate, beautiful pages for him up through his second birthday.  Then I got pregnant with baby number 2.  In an effort to keep up with my son's scrapbook, I resorted to buying premade scrapbook pages on ebay.

When baby number 2 arrived I tried to keep it going.  I would have scrapbook marathon sessions trying my best to keep up with two sets of scrapbooks for each of my children.  I made it until Hogan was 9 months and Ross 3 years.  Katherine is 15 months old... and no scrapbook.  Heck - I barely have any printed off photos of her.

Making mom's life easier is Memories WOW!.  It was created for people desiring high-quality photo products to tell their life story, but don’t have the time, know-how or creative eye to do it themselves. Their designers do all of the work for moms, turning your photos and turning them into amazing, beautiful books.

Besides photobooks, you can also find custom made cards (thing amazing holiday cards), and they make dvd collections out of your photos too.

In a nutshell - they are helping moms like me - so we don't feel so guilty about letting our scrapbooking slide.

Spooneez

I cleaned out my purse today.  I'm embarrased to say, I found 3 plastic baby spoons in the bottom of my purse.  They were covered in lint, hardened baby food and whatever else was lining the bottom of my purse.  I think just about every mom has had this experience.  My experience this morning led me to Spooneez, a product invented by two moms that allows you to roll up the mess into a convenient carrying case.

There is room for the yucky spoon, a bib, baby food and everything else you may need to feed your baby on the go.  When you are done - you just roll it back up in your Spooneez.  It saves moms from having to rip the lining of a bag while trying to free a spoon stuck to the bottom of it.  No - that didn't happen to me, but it did happen to a friend of mine.  No joke.

Mommy Measure

We can never forget about the moms to be.  Whether its your first baby, 5th baby or last baby - its hard to keep up with all of the milestones of your pregnancy.  Especially if you are like me and can barely scrape yourself off from the bathroom floor for the first 6 months (so thankful for Zofran).

The Mommy Measure pregnancy growth chart and journal is made of 100% soft vinyl to easily form to a pregnant belly, accept hand-written messages, and last a lifetime as a treasured keepsake.  As your belly grows through your pregnancy, you can use your Mommy Measure chart to keep track of important pregnancy milestones, such as when you first felt the baby move, when you found out the sex and how big your belly was the day you gave birth.

Such a sweet keepsake from such a special time in a mommy's life.

That's our list for this week!  A big thanks to all of the moms out there make our lives easier.  Keep inventing.  And if anyone has an idea for keep shoes and socks on my kids feet - let me know!
